workplace mental health

Information for Health Professionals

2OPHealth provides educational resources and tools for general practitioners to improve patient outcomes when dealing with workplace mental health issues.

Experience has shown that many general practitioners (GPs) and specialists avoid cases of workers compensation altogether. This is often due to a lack of understanding of the process and the conditions and situations suffered by patients. We’ve also found that treatments offered to patients are often not occupation-based which can lead to the concept of medicalisation and a treatment resistant situation.

We provide specialist guidance, to help our patients to evaluate their situation objectively and to build strategies to improve their circumstances. This enables our patients to avoid engaging in potentially years of poorly planned psychiatric and psychological treatments without significant improvement.

Our education programs aim to provide GPs with a holistic view of the system and a good understanding of the factors involved in occupational psychiatry and psychology. We give GPs the tools to improve a patient’s occupational journey and also enable additional income from work involving insurance.

Education for clinicians improves their ability to interact with IME, insurance and rehabilitation providers, in addition to understanding and familiarity with psychiatric injury and management.
